Shannon doesn’t wait for anyone to hand her the camera. On “I Don’t Slow Down,” the new solo single from 佟凱玲 Shannon – Shannon Jackson, of the Taiwanese girl group HUR+ – she is the director, the producer, the stylist, the hair-and-makeup artist and one of the two editors. The video was shot here in New York City, and it plays like a diary of a woman who has decided the city’s pace is her pace: no brakes, no apologies, three and a half minutes of forward motion over a beat built by Taiwanese producer 斐立普 Felipe.Z. It came out on 14 October 2026, and this is the first story about it in English.
The New York connection is more than a backdrop. Shannon grew up between two worlds – a Taiwanese mother and an American father, both in the restaurant business in Taipei – and she switches between Mandarin and English as easily as she switches looks. Her group has New York history too: HUR+ went up on a 25-storey screen in Times Square as Spotify EQUAL ambassadors, the first Mandarin-language girl group to get that billboard. “I Don’t Slow Down” brings her back to the city on her own terms, with her own crew – videographers ShihFu Tsai and Weiren Jheng, colourist Henry Tao and designer Lori.
She has been building to this for years. Discovered by a talent scout while shopping, she signed with Taipei’s Breeze International in 2017 and worked as a model, TV host and actress – hosting 《生活萬事通》 and 《王子的移動城堡》 and acting in the series 《四月望雨》. In 2023 she chose the harder road and joined HUR+ (緋紅魅影 CRIMZON) through the survival show 《未來少女》. She has said HUR was a group she already loved, and that the pressure of the competition sometimes sent her off to cry alone – and that the only answer was to make herself as good as she could be. Today HUR+ performs as nine members, nine colours, and in the group’s 2026 “9 of 9: ARCANA” project each member released a solo: Shannon’s was the swaggering “Black Cadillac.”
“I Don’t Slow Down” is the next step: a self-made release from a performer who already knew how to work in front of a camera and has now proved she can run the whole set behind it. Turn it up, and follow her at @shannjacks.
