A new Yangon track is moving fast: “PAPI” by LA ZANG, a dancehall-flavoured rap cut with a full music video, went up on 27 October 2026 and had passed 19,000 views within roughly a day, with more than 150 comments, most of them in Burmese.
The song runs 2 minutes 25 seconds and leans on Jamaican dancehall rhythm and swagger, with rap delivery that, to the ear of WWP’s founder, nods to the 90s stutter-flow of Das EFX. LA ZANG wrote it and also directed, edited and colour-graded the video under the Artis Hood Production banner, with Hogu behind the camera as director of photography. Bobby Beatz produced the track and DIFFE mixed and mastered it. The cast brings in P-Cube, Kyi Min Khant, Hein Lay and Thukha, with Sunny as special guest.
What the comments are saying
The thread reads like a block party. Viewers call out the lighting and camera angles, say the video is “the best of the year” for them, and one writes that they fell in love with a song that stands out from the local music scene. Several say they came from TikTok, others report streaming it on both Spotify and YouTube, one predicts it will trend internationally, and a few simply say to put it on at the next party. Plenty of the praise is a single enthusiastic Burmese slang word repeated down the page, which is about as clear a verdict as a comment section gives.
On the grapevine
There is no press coverage of “PAPI” yet. Burmese music sites and international outlets have not picked it up, so the buzz is living where Yangon’s young listeners live: comments, TikTok and streaming playlists. That is usually how a club record starts.
