  2. Not hating on Adéla specifically, but this is such a clear example of how the industry still runs on the same formula for women.
Almost every successful young female pop artist ends up in the same place: hyper-sexualized visuals, body-focused choreography, lyrics about sex appeal, and then the whole thing gets sold as “empowerment” or “owning her sexuality.” We’ve reached a point where mainstream pop marketing relies on adult-industry levels of explicit exposure just to capture attention, blurring the line between a music video and explicit content.
Meanwhile male artists can be sexy, dominant, or whatever without being reduced to the same constant body-as-product presentation. The double standard is still massive, we just rebranded it so it’s harder to criticize (and if you dare call out the double standards in the music industry regarding the sexualization of men versus women (and that women sexualize themselves or are sexualized more, you're called a 'prude' or 'jealous.').
Sexuality isn’t the problem. Pretending this pattern is total liberation is.

Edit: So question is - do we ACTUALLY choose completely by our own will to sexualize ourselves? Self-objectification is when you feel like you want to sexualize yourself, but it’s actually the result of years of media conditioning. You start seeing your body the way the media trained you to - primarily as something to be looked at and desired - and it starts to feel like your own authentic preference.

Research shows this isn’t just “personal taste.” Repeated exposure to sexualized media leads people to internalize that outsider’s perspective. Over time it can feel natural, even empowering, while quietly shaping how you value yourself.

Even if intention is different, her videos and imaging still reinforce the same idea to young impressionable audience - that women are bodies first.

The problem is women are still more likely to be presented as body first. I think it still reicforces the same ideas and it influences young women that women should be bodies and sexy (to men) first to have value. I'm not trying to sh. on women that sexualize themselves, I'm merely criticizing the societal standards imposed on us women.

And studies prove this, here's one of the most recent ones:

A 2025 automated analysis of 9,799 music videos spanning four decades found that women artists are more likely to be sexualized in their own videos. Gender inequalities in sexualization have persisted even as women’s overall visibility increased somewhat. Older studies cited in this research found women sexualized up to roughly 10 times more often than men on measures like sexual attire, body exposure, sexualized dancing, and being the object of sexual advances.

*Didn't know much about Adéla before I've seen this video, so recently I watched some interviews of her and other videos and I actually like her persona and her confidence and her expression. I'm saying both can be true - women should OF COURSE be free to express themselves in sexual way if they feel like it (although a lot of time through industry's or media pressure and internalization of the male gaze) and at the same time we can call out the industry's or capitalistic system's double standards between men and women.

  9. Raising awareness about what happened at Cornell. A woman was sexually assaulted by 7 men over 7 hours, while a group chat included 57 fraternity members. Messages about her were shared in the chat, and the case has raised serious questions about why more people did not step in to help. She deserves to be heard, supported, and treated with respect. Her story matters, and people need to know what happened. GUYS PLEASE COPY PASTE THIS INTO AS MANY SHORTS AS YOU CAN‼

    • Yeah, that's not what happened. Official documents and the girls own statements say as much. She was willing and even orchestrated more after it.

  10. There’s something so refreshing about a woman embracing her sexuality and expressing it entirely on her own terms, rather than for the male gaze.
