Q’pop

2015 年,Flores 用克丘亞語翻唱 Michael Jackson 的「The Way You Make Me Feel」,累積超過 220 萬次觀看,第一次扭轉了當地的認知。

We have to fight false narratives.

The last line is the most important. America has a superiority complex, and always has. We, as people, have believed for so long, and a lot of people still believe that we are the eagle and the people who have helped us build this country are the vultures of the south, when we have built our system and our country off the backs of Mexican families, who have helped hold our economy together. We are not better. America's complex has ruined and crashed our economy, and any stability we have, for a long time.

Go back to the first line. "no importa dónde vaya, yo sé dónde soy."
It doesn't matter where you are going.
      Yet,
You know who you are, despite what has been deeply ingrained in our ungrateful people, our systematic failures. You know who you are, you know the people who will stand by you, and who will be true. The people who see you, face-to-face, look you in your eyes, as you are equal.
Listen to that, not the people who will hold you back from being the person you are. Share your indigenous culture, and let the unity happen. It's the only way we grow and progress as a society. We have to continue bridging gaps. ❤

    • We speak the languages of our oppressors. We can restore what was taken.

  9. Wow this song is so beautiful and powerful! As a Peruvian, I grew up feeling ashamed of my indigenous roots as the “paisanos” are considered lower than lower class in Peru, which is really sad.

Seeing her sing in Quechua and be proud of our indigenous roots was so powerfully liberating to me and I teared up seeing her dance in the traditional clothes.

This song stirs something inside of me and I feel emotional seeing Peru and our culture. Thank you so much for such a transformative song ❤❤❤🇵🇪

    • Renata Flores helped me to understand part of my roots as well, she is very proud of her language and culture and keeps it alive. Definitely check out all of her stuff if you are Quechua, or even if you're not.
I followed Xiuhtezcatl separately so I was super excited to see him finally do a song with her!

  10. Never be ashamed of your beautiful roots. Im sick and tired of everyone thinking European features and cultures are better or above other cultures of people of color or just non-european cultures in general. My people are beautiful, and that colored skin is beautiful. Remember how great your ancestors were and how skillfully they survived and thrived in the land. Never feel less than anyone.

    • Me as a european am also sick of us, history and culture of occupation and genocide, not all of us are colonizers and have a superiority gene... especially in Slovakia, we are always the ones being occupied by anyone thtough all of our history, keep your healthy anger and dont let your voice ever be silenced

      ♥ 12
    • A few european powers were the colonizers, most of Eastern Europeans were opressed in our small countries...they are actively trying to erase our history even today...united we stand...
