Korea : LUNA 루나

‘Free Somebody”

Born Park Sun-Young in Seoul, South Korea on August 12, 1993 to a family of classical vocal singers.  Sun Young  has an older brother, and a older twin sister named Park Jin-young.  Luna is the only member of her family to not major in classical music

In 2006, S.M. Entertainment recruited Luna after seeing her performing on an SBS television program, Truth Game. Luna later debuted as the main vocalist and lead dancer of South Korean girl group in September 2009. Aside from f(x)’s activities, Luna also made several solo appearances. In 2010, Luna appeared as the regular member of Star King for a long time and earned a Newcomer Award from the SBS Entertainment Awards for her appearance and effort.  Later in the year, Luna recorded the song “Let’s Go” alongside labelmates Sungmin, Seohyun and Jonghyun, for the purpose of increasing public participation in the 2010 G-20 Seoul summit.  She released a duet with Super Junior’s Yesung “And I Love You” for the soundtrack of KBS2 drama The President and a solo single “Beautiful Day” which served as the OST for drama Please Marry Me

“Free Somebody” is a title that perfectly matches  Luna. We have already been able to see her shine in electro styles with Play The Siren for “Dream Drive”  and sometimes even EDM with her more recent participation on “Wave”  with R3hab and Amber. But “Free Somebody” grabs us and  send us to the dance floor  with a rhythm that quickly addicts you to this song’s  mix of pop and 80’s electro dance influences ala Classixx and DTRAIN.  Add a Peter Max  inspired  animation in the clip, that highlights sLuna’s dancing and singing abilities, we are left wanting more … this song definitely needs an extended club remix
